Cedar Hill Farm is a remarkable parcel of land protected by easements to both the State of Ct and to The Nature Conservancy.A total of 256 contiguous acres that have been set aside to be a sanctuary for wildlife , with the possibility of one house site. The fields are maintained once a year after all birds have nested and the fledglings have flown. Mill Brook bisects the property and there are ponds on its southern and western edges. The land has a mixture of habitats, ranging from mature forests of white pine and hemlocks changing to mixed hard woods of hickory and oak in the higher elevations. A number of parcels have been allowed to become early successional supporting a wide variety of wild life. The large fields are the crown of the property as they were planted with a variety of native grasses to become prime habitat for rare grassland birds such as meadow larks and bobolinks. This is a refuge in the truest sense, a rare find.
